A Celebration And A Give Away!

Happy 100th post! Well, this is our 101st post, but you get the drift. Anyhoo! This apron is actually from Italy, brought back by a merchant whose shop I use to frequent when I lived near Charlotte. He split time between Italy and Charlotte, and would bring back the most wonderful items for the shop. I miss that store! But since I have two of these, I thought that maybe you all would like to have one of them! If so, all you have to do is this:
1)Follow this blog
2)Follow Cottage Cuisine
3)Like us on Facebook
If you're already doing all of the above, then follow us on Twitter
If you complete all of the above, you'll be entered in the give away four times!
The winner will be chosen at random, next Tuesday, June 12, 2012. Good luck!

Cobbler Recipe...

When I posted the piece on Sunday about picking plums, I said that I would link it from this blog to Cottage Cuisine, so for the thousands of adoring fans of Clover Cottage, here you go!
Good stuff!
Just kidding about all of the fans. One hundred would be wonderful.
At this point even ten sounds good!
Thanks to the handful of you who do follow!

Hen Party!

The girls are growing for sure! They've almost doubled in size since I brought them to the cottage almost six weeks ago. HUGE announcement: they will begin eating laying mash this weekend, and hopefully in about eight weeks, we'll have eggs. Cottage fresh eggs. I know 'farm fresh' sounds better, but if you could see just how tiny the cottage yard is, you would understand that using the word 'farm' would be a hoot. Or cackle...

From left to right, Mable, Mignon, Miss Lottie, and Grace Ivey...

Miss Lottie strikes a pose!

And another one! She was feeling especially photogenic yesterday.
There's one girl missing from the photos, it's Flossie, so called from the nickname folks gave to my grandmother. Oh yea, she was behaving just like her name sake. She refused to have her picture taken yesterday. I think she was jealous of Miss Lottie, she kept pecking her on the back.
Bad Flossie...

Wicker Woes...

These are the wicker pieces that I spoke of yesterday. They're in pretty good shape, extremely sturdy and I'm oh so  thankful to JD's daughter to have it for the sun porch.
Now, having said that, let's go back to yesterday morning. To the point where I took off on a trip  to look for cushions and pillows. I was optimistic, surely there would be something I would like. I didn't have to love it, just something I can live with, you know?
It wasn't meant to be. What was supposed to be a quick jaunt for cushions turned into an entire day of shopping for cushions. The first store I went to is only about fifteen minutes from the cottage, in Boiling Springs. I went in two other stores, and found just more of the same. Nothing.
Not to be discouraged, I decided to go to Spartanburg, where I visited at least ten stores, finally finding something I thought maybe I could live with as far as cushions go but still nothing on the pillows.
Lastly, I drove to Target and while I didn't find pillows, I did find pillow covers that I LOVE!
Back to the cottage, cleaned the furniture, and plopped the cushions down.
Nope.
Love the pillow covers, can't live with the cushions. They've been placed back into their bag and will be returned tomorrow.
I now have a plan and will fill you in when it comes to fruition.
I do realize that it's me and my taste and my pocket book.
Everyone else seems to find things they just adore.
Don't they?

Laundry and Lowe's

"She'll never find me in here..." Oh yes she will! Georgianna loves freshly dried laundry, she always has. When she was a tiny kitten, it was much more difficult to find her in it, but not so much nowadays. So, there's laundry to fold, and new porch furniture to wash. And quite possibly new cushions to purchase for said furniture. I see Lowe's in my immediate future. I have inherited some wicker furniture from JD's daughter and I'm thinking it's going on the sun porch. If I weren't too lazy, I'd snap a pic to show you, but I'll just do that later, after I've washed it...
Looks like today is going to be a day of rearranging, as I have to make room on the sun porch for the new additions. The room itself is hardly large enough to 'cuss a cat' as my mother would say, but then again, I'm not one to cuss a cat. SO...do I fold the laundry, then wash the furniture, then go to Lowe's?
Nah, that's crazy, why would I work when I can shop?

No, I didn't put make up on to tromp around the garden center at Lowe's...
This photo is from yesterday 'cause who wears make up to Lowe's?
